I had a mentoring session with a lady recently, and she asked me what my big goals are for Little Rockers Radio. What do I really hope to achieve?
Without hesitation I told her my big dreams, as I know exactly what I hope to achieve.
Her feedback was that when she looked at Little Rockers Radio (web, apps, social platforms, etc) she didn't see my ambitions.
Of course there's a true love for children's music and the amazing artists making music for children as well as for early childhood educators and carers who help parents and guardians in raising our future generation.
My big ambitions are not necessarily musically focused however and I thought sharing them with you is a good place to start...
So, here are my goals that I would like to achieve over the next decade...
ONE. I want to help support parents and influence 500,000+ littlies through Little Rockers Radio and to play a small part in helping them to grow into happy and healthy (physically & mentally) grown ups. That's why we play lots of great songs (fun and educational), as well as Ready Steady Go Kids activity programs, yoga, meditations and beautiful 'restful' music. This helps to subtly equip children with some helpful mindful 'tools' they can use as they grow up. I believe knowing how to stop and breathe, or how to meditate when you feel you need to, to exercise a little and enjoy it and to pop on restful music when you are stressed helps so much - so let's get our children growing up doing these things without a second thought.
TWO. I want to help raise $1 million for SIDS & Kids over the next 10-years through the Little Rockers RED NOSE Disco. Many of you know my nephew passed away from SIDS at 16-months of age and I am so very proud of the Little Rockers RED NOSE Disco, which launched in 2015. I really want grow this over the coming year's and with all funds raised from this disco going direct to SIDS & Kids a goal of $1 million is not only a good large figure to strive for, but it would help in so many ways to educate, research and support families. So, if you know any big companies, or you are a TV network that wants to jump on board in 2017 - call me! :-)
THREE. I want Little Rockers Radio to grow into a brand that is strong enough to sponsor grass roots sports throughout Australia. Yep, sounds bold, but I want to knock McDonalds off its perch. I understand that McDonalds supports a lot of local clubs and this support keeps them going, however I want to do that through Little Rockers Radio instead. It's not about telling Mums, Dads and Carers what they should and shouldn't feed their kids. That's not the angle at all. I don't want McDonalds to purposefully skip the parents and try to get to the kids direct! Seriously, what's that all about? As parents we will feed our children, and make decisions on this about what's right for them. And, targeting the kids direct just makes our lives a little harder! Plus, I really can't see any good connection between 'junk food' and children's sport anyway!
So, there you have it! They are big but I hope to achieve them, and the Little Rockers Radio listeners and supporters are what will help them come to life! I hope you like them too. :-)
